Each person according our ancient culture was categorised based on its body types and food habits and accordingly given work in the society. Through such categories were the 4 Varnas defined as : Brahmanas, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas, and Shudras.
Non of these Varnas were superior or inferior to each other but just classifications based on their Dharma or duty in the society bestowed upon them by God. these duty were the necessities of the society and that persons belonging to each varna we’re required to be physically and mentally capable of performing these duties without hindrance and hence were called their Dharm.
Inability due to physical or mental energy to do so will severely impair the natural balance in human society as well as the nature. even the change of career by these persons belonging particular varna from one to another will also lead to imbalance in personal and social environment.
Brahmins: Brahmins are given the duty to propagate knowledge and perform spiritual duties which require utmost use of brain and require person to be calm and settled with diminished anger and controlled emotions. To achieve this he must ensure that he consumes only vegetarian diet made of carbohydrates. Such as rice and leafy vegetables. Consuming any sort of heavy vegetarian diet like pulses and cereals will lead to increasing indigestion as no physical hard work is involved and the vatt roga will increase disturbing the mind and soul of the person while performing rituals or while studying.
Similarly Brahmins and Jains are not allowed to consume onion is also the similar reason. Onion due to its foul smell and hard to digest nature will cause vatt to build up leading to drowsiness and foul smell will cause inability to focus.
While garlic is avoided due to its nature of awakening sexual desires which is forbidden while performing any form of spiritual practice.
In todays world Brahmins are mostly involved in medical and engineering field. Where the concentration, patience, and perception of right and wrong is utmost important. Brain for its optimum functioning, a high amount of glucose is required which is only found in foods rich in Carbohydrates like vegetables. Hence the brain becomes very sharp and precise and can remain calm in worst of the situations.
Any person in todays world irrespective of his caste if he is involved in such profession where only mental power is involved he must maintain a strict vegetarian leafy vegetable diet for him to perform well in his respective field with minimal errors.
Kshatriya: Kshatriya are mainly warriors who sole purpose is to either defend or attack an enemy or maintain law and order like a king. Most of the kings were all Kshatriyas. Being involved in the warfare and Lot of aggressive physical activity they are required to consume meat.
The reason being the meat they consume mostly should be hunted down by themselves(required to pray for relief and moksha to the animal) and eat it. This helps them to build that aggressive tiger like hunting instincts without having soft spot for overthinking before taking a life and its repercussions as would be thought out 10 times by a brahmin who is vegetarian. A Kshatriya is permitted by dharma to kill for need and not for pleasure or greed. The they are forgiven from paap karma of killing another soul if they kill within the limits of Kshatriya dharma.
The decision making required as a Kshatirya is very different from that of a brahmin. Brahmin take decision based on very detailed calculations while kshatriya is deciding based on right or wrong and justice or injustice. In kings court most of the serious administrative decisions were made by brahmins and kings gave orders accordingly. This is very much influenced by the nature of food that is consumed by these individuals. Pure glucose based diet results in meticulous planning and thinking while diet which is partially carbs based and partially protein and fat based will result in short tempered or fast decision and would be more aggressive in nature without much thought of the consequences.
Hence in todays world those involved in Army, police, and other armed forced or involved in martial arts, hunting etc are required to have such meat based diet so that they physical body should be able to cope up with the type of heavy aggressive workout and training involved and remain alert as a tiger. Alcohol although is one of the common drinks taken by these working class people but alcohol tends to numb the senses and the instincts required to react quickly and swiftly hence is against the Kshatriya Dharma.
While these persons involved in armed forces etc. are permitted to eat meat but person in judicial system like lawyers and judges should follow strict vegetarian diet so that they can make right decision with clear thinking and with justice.
Vaishyas: Vaishyas are mostly involved in trade, commerce and also administration had similar diet structure similar to that of brahmins but they are allowed to consume onion and garlic although most communities till today avoid such. They exclude meat products from their diet for reason of non killing of animals(Ahimsa).
In todays world Vaishyas dominate most of the sectors from Financial work to Administrative work to trade and commerce etc. But only those who follow strict vegetarian diet tend to successfully manage their Buisness and are able to do complex calculations with respect to trade without use of calculators. Marvadis are a classic example of the same.
Shudras: Last but not the least, the most important part of this society are the shudras. Although society have been pressing them for being lower caste but in realty they are the most crucial part of society. Without their work cleanliness is just a dream. Shudras or the commonly called the labour class take up the most important job of all kinds of physical work which are requested by other varna individuals. Their jobs require most use of physical energy and fast recovery of muscles, which are attained by diet mainly composed of protein rich pulses and cereals which has high Urja(energy) content.
As they do not require to use lot of brain work they do not require carbohydrates based diet. Intake of high carbohydrate and less of protein for such individuals will result in tiredness and weakness very quickly.
Persons involved with mental work such as professionals where hard physical work is nil, should eat mostly leafy vegetables to tonify their brains. They should prohibit or restrict eating pulses and cereals as this create gases in the stomach and cannot be digested as there is no physical efforts. This wind will then create lot of wind disorders. In Ayurveda it is called Vat rogas. They will find dullness in working and will not able to concentrate in work.
Every person in todays society have the freedom to practice any profession or work irrespective of which caste or varna they are born in. But if he/she wants to do so then they should have diet according to varna. For example if a Shudra wants to be a professional engineer/doctor/lawyer then he with his diligent study and hard work can achieve it provided he should from beginning maintain a pure vegetarian diet which would tune his body to achieve that goal in the right way.
If a person continually working on computer starts consuming meat based diet despite no physical work involved like a Kshatriya then his body will heat up leading to chronic health problems like migraine, neck problems etc. also he will slowly become short tempered or end up being frustrated individual with no patience and may end up in depression.
If a Brahmin wishes to serve in the Army at ground zero where he’s is physically involved with enemy he cannot have a complete vegetarian diet as it might cause him to be less aggressive and may even be reluctant to kill his enemy which is his sworn duty. On contrary in Army if he is involved with working at intelligence or logistics etc. then he should maintain strict vegetarian diet to ensure zero error.
If individual with mental work consumes lot of high urja(energy) diet like pulse and cereals then he. Will develop lot of excessive energy which will turn to poison, rather than help develop body. To overcome this, physical exercises should be done, which will make you sweat and throw away wind through opening of skin pores and will make you active.
Vice versa people doing hard work, if they eat only leafy vegetable, they will not able to perform hard work and will feel tired just within no time. For these people pulses and cereal like Jawar and Bajara will help to increase strength and do work. You will notice that these people, who do more hard work and eat more pulses are less smart as these pulses make their brain dull.
In short, people doing Brain work should eat more leafy vegetables while those who are involved in hard physical work should eat more pulses.
Under any circumstances unless as mentioned above diet exclusive for Kshatriya for a good healthy life one must avoid meat as it will spoil our health. For a Kshatriya, his physical prowess is more important in warfare than having a healthy lifestyle as his life is on the line for protecting his nation. But for a healthy body should avoid meat and fish as our body is not designed to digest it well.
