Noted Goan acupuncturist, Dr M B Prabhu, has been awarded a gold medal at the second world congress on complimentary healing systems held at Delhi recently. The congress was hosted by the Indian Chapter for complimentary medicines, says a press note. The award was given to Mr Prabhu for the distinguished work in the field of complimentary healing systems and for his dedicated services to the society. The award was presented to him by the union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Ms Renuka Chowdhary. Dr Prabhu also won the Dr B K Basu memorial award (late Dr Basu is the pioneer of India to go to China to learn acupuncture) for the best research paper presentation and was honoured by Dr B K Singh from Canada and Mohan Aselvan. Dr Prabhu was presented this award for his paper ‘Correcting Wood Element is Most Essential’. He explained in his paper the new concepts of five elements discovered by him. In the year 1997-98, Dr Prabhu attended many conferences as a special delegate and has given lectures on different research papers which won him many awards.
